PXE/RIS Booting WinPE stops responding

I am deploying a Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) from a
Remote Installation Services (RIS) server. This RIS server is running
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1. I perform this deployment to trigger a
Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE) startup on a client computer.
This scenario is setup as mentioned in:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304992

In this scenario, after "Booting Windows Preinstalled Environment" a
blinking cursor is displayed and the system hangs.

In the KB i found a possible hotfix and obtained this hotfix from a
microsoft support member as mentioned here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;906425

Unfortunatly this hotfix did not solve my problem and the Microsoft support
member advised me to post my problem here.

What version of Windows PE are you using, and which method from KB 304992
did you use to load Windows PE onto the RIS server?

I'm not at work right now, and won't be for the next week(vacation) so i
can't check the exact version.
Wat i do know is that i downloaded the following file, and i hope you know
enough:
http://oem.microsoft.com/script/agreements.aspx?download=xpsp2_2180_nl_x86fre_opk.zip&OPK=true

And for the method i was using, it's Method 1 and i havn't tried Method 2.
But for the next week i am unable to, so i realy was hoping for a sollution
for this method.

Grx,
Joris

Ps. I noticed i'v made an error in posting and created the same post 3
times. Maby someone could delete the other 2.

I'v checked my exact version and it is WinPE 2004.
As i already mentioned i downloaded this from the OEM website and thought i
had the lastest version, but i turns out that's not right.

Still, is it possible to provide me with a sollution for this annoying
problem.

What type of hardware are you having the problem on? Does it occur on all
devices or just the one? What type of monitor is attached? Does the
Windows PE progress bar go all the way across the bottom of the screen
before the blinking cursor? Do you see any disk activity or is it truly
frozen? Have you configured Windows PE to do PnP (other than network and
mass storage devices)?

I noticed i received the wrong XP version from our distro.
Now, while working with the correct version everything seems fine exept for
1 thing.

During startup of WinPE and "factory.exe -winpe" the step ""installing
hardware devices" takes a long time finishing.
Is it possible to shorten this period.

Commands to create my CustomPE:
MKIMG.CMD E: C:\CustomPE /PnP
oscdimg.exe -bC:\WinPE\ETFSBOOT.COM -h -lCustomPE -n -o c:\CustomPE
C:\CustomPE.iso

If you remove the /PNP it will run faster. Without this switch, PE will
only install storage and networking drivers. With this switch, it will try
to install drivers for everything (video, audio, etc.). This definitely
slows it down.
