PXE-E61 and PXE-MOF Errors

I scrubbed my hdd, repartitioned it and and tried to reinstall XP Media
Center and these are the errors I am getting:

Media Test Failure, PXE-E61, check cable
PXE-MOF Exiting Broadcom PXE Rom

No boot device detected

I installed XP instead which didn't give me the error messages, but the
monitor feature leaves it in default mode and the font is too large and
colors are very basic. Also, the "standby" mode is greyed out. I can't
adjust anything by going into the control panel either.

Any ideas?
