Open a search engine (e.g., Google) and type this in the search box:

PXE-E53: No boot filename received

then press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Wish it was that simple. Let me explain: HD died...wouldn't spin up, just
clicks. Bought and installed a new HD. Now is where the problem begins:
everything says to insert boot disk. I don't have one. XP came installed on
my machine...so I have no CD to insert. Borrowed a recovery disk from
someone..but it only gets so far and says the "recovery disk isn't suitable
for my model".
I think I need a Windows XP install disk...and have no idea where to get
one!

BUY one. There are plenty of places that sell them online.

No, you need to contact the hard drive manufacturer and ask them to help
you install your new hard drive. Better yet, have a professional do it.
Don't mess around any longer.

Contacted HP's eMachines tech support earlier today. He basically says
they no longer support anything earlier than March 2006..and that's about
when I bought this one. I have my product key..but no CD.
I'm about over it for today...may try hard drive (Seagate) tech support
tomorrow. I just can't see BUYING a copy of the XP disk...when I've already
paid for it once..when I bought the computer. If anything, I'd upgrade to
Vista!!

YOU didn't pay for it, eMachine did. It was purchased for
installation on their equipment, and at a reduced price. You bought
the entire computer, and got what you paid for - the package.
