Can't boot up Windows XP.....

Won't start up......even in safe mode. Was getting an "Intel boot agent"
error message....... "PXE-E53 : no bootfile name received". Then it would
tell me no bootable device found, and prompt me to insert boot disk and press
any key

Now it doesn't even do that.... just makes a few clicks internally, and
sits. You can put in the recovery disk, but it doesn't read it. Any
ideas?????? thanks!

Sounds like your hard drive may have bit the dust. Try booting into the
BIOS and verify that the hard drive is enabled and properly identified.
If the BIOS can't see the drive open the box and make sure that the
cables to the drive are properly seated, reseat the connections at the
drive and motherboard and reseat the power connector.

I can't even get that far! When I power up, fan comes on..... then I get
the big eMachines logo, with "BIOS settings: <F2>" displayed at the bottom of
screen. When I hit "F2", nothing happens. Won't start in safe mode either.
I'll try opening the box and reconnecting wires......

If you can't access the BIOS then you have a hardware problem, you might
want to seek help in a hardware group or have a person that is competent
with hardware have a look at the machine. Maybe you are pressing the F2
key a bit too late to enter the BIOS?

OK.... I can start up in BIOS..but Boot Agent still says "no bootfile name
received". Already purchased new HD ( wanted to upgrade anyway)...but the new
HD gives the same message as before!!!!!!
