Putting desktop icon on quick launch??

I had it there before but now it's gone.Can anyone tell
me how to put it back there.I can get a desktop icon
there that opens the desktop folder and it's contents but
i want it where if I click the icon it shrinks all open
windows and just shows the desktop itself.Thanks.
