I am using Outlook 2003 in XP w/ SP2. I am trying to get a category title to
appear in the To field of my message. Ex. To:Physicians instead of To:
(e-mail address removed); (e-mail address removed);etc. I have the contacts sorted by category and
such. Please assist

One way is to create a dummy contact with the title you want and assign it
your own address. When you sent your message to the category, right-click
the list of names in the To, choose Select All and drag the selection to the
Bcc field. Then enter your dummy contact in the To field.

Brian, that is a workable solution but can you advise how I can get the email
address that I assign to the dummy contact (my email) not to appear following
the category? i.e. I set up the dummy contact and the name appearsin the To
field as - Name Assigned <[email protected]> You have helped me out greatly but any
ideas how to get rid of the email address ? Thanks

Change the dummy's Display As field so that it doesn't include the mail
address.

Brian, even when I do not put an email address in the Display As field,
Outlook will install the email regardless. I found that if I enclose the
email address in parentheses the email does not appear. For example leaving
the Display As void of an email will result in: Desired Name <[email protected]>
appearing but if I insert this Desired Name (my email) Outlook does not
include an address. I have only tested this within Outlook and Windows Live
Mail however. Thanks for all your help.

Not for me, but I guess it's moot.
