purpose of the Search Folder.dbx files in Outlook Express store fo

In an attempt to minimize the file size of my Outlook Express store folder, I
would like to delete any unnecessary files. I notice many "Search Folder.dbx"
files such as "Search Folder (29).dbx. What is the purpose of these Search
Folders and which "Search Folder (*).dbx" can I delete, if possible.
