you just insert the windows xp cd, turn your computer on, make sure it boots
from the cd, and the setup process starts.
you now have the option to reformat the whole drive in your laptop, which
means that everything will then be erased/purged.
make sure you backup all the necessary files prior to formatting as lost
data is lost forever.
