Punctuation keys typing incorrectly

We have a user who will be typing along in Powerpoint and
the punctuation keys (, . ' start typing the upper case
symbols (< > : "). Caps lock is not on and the shift keys
are depressed/stuck. Only punctuation keys are doing it,
all other keys are fine (typing lower case). He wonders if
he's hitting some combination of keys that's causing it,
but the only way he can get it to type correctly is to
reboot. Sto occur after he's been working in Powerpoint
for some time.

Did his keyboard come with any software? Have you tried updating or
reinstalling it?

I can't think of any combination of keys in PPT which would cause anything
like this, though.
