Pulldown menus don't work

I am having problems with pull down menus. If I go to a
website and it has pulldown menus and I click to drop the
menu down, then select the one I need, nothing happens
after I release the mouse button. This just started
happening and the only thing I can think of is an update
for IE that was recently installed. When checking the
version of IE under the Help menu, then about IE, it is
blank, but in the registry it is showing 6.02800.1106. thanks

Could this just be a settings problem? Would restoring all
the settings to the default fix this? I tried this in the
internet options and things seem to be the same. Is there
any other settings that could be messed with?
