Publishing Procedure

Hello.

You create a new site using FrontPage. You publish it to a server with
FrontPage extensions already installed. No problem!

Now you Frontpage website is 350-400 htm pages! You publish and FrontPage
takes forever to compare the local and remote webs in order to start
publishing!

Is that the only thing to do when publishing lareg websites through
FrontPage? ie, wait until the comparison process ends for FP to start
publishing the modified or new htm documents and pictures (if any)?

Please advise.

Yes
- or break up the large web into smaller subwebs

Des Stefan,

Thanks for the reply.

Wouldn't FrontPage also compare these subwebs between the local and remote
server? In theory, the time is the same whether I use subwebs or didn't use
them. FrontPage, I think, will compare the whole content of the site.

You can publish the root or subwebs by themselves

Stephen,

When you select publish web, then FrontPage will consume a lot of time
comparing the local and remote websites. If I use subwebs to organize the
files on the website, do you think the time required by FP will decrease to
compare the local and remote webs?

Thomas A. Rowe

Yes, if you only make changes in a subweb, then only the subweb needs to be published, and FP only
needs to compare the files in the local and remote subwebs, thereby saving time.
