Publishing fails

E

Eric Carr

Hi,

A previously posted problem, but in more detail this time:

A client is using FP 2003 beta only. (Never FTP). Our server is
running SE 2002. She has a user with advanced author rights for her
website. (We've tried administrative rights also, with the same
results.

- She can OPEN the website and read the contents
- She can copy one file at a time (using the arrows, drag/drop, etc)
- When she tries to use "publish" at any time (either from her locally
opened website, or when editing the live site), she just gets the
username/password prompt again and again.
- The same thing happens when she tries to create a subweb.
(Subfolders works fine, just like single files)

All the usual solutions has been tried - deleting tempfiles,
lockfiles, reinstalling SE, recreating the website, and so on.
Everything is configured "by the book".

Anyone got a suggestion what may be wrong?
An excerpt from the website log:

... and then back to the password prompt.

Is she using File Publish (or the publish button)

And is it the TR2 of the BETA
- beta support has ended and the Final product has been released so her best bet is to buy the Final release

She claims she has only one button: "Publish web site". Where should
the other one be, and what is the difference?

And she refuses to buy the final release before the beta expires..
because of some info from MS saying that the updates she has done
makes her beta behave exactly as the final release..

:/

A BETA is a BETA is a BETA
Even the last release of the BETA (2TR) was full of known bugs and was no where as complete as the final RTM of FP2003

Sorry, AlbertHarrington, there are no FP 2003 server extensions. Only 2002
and 2000.
