Publish to web

Hi MVP's et al, I just published an FP2003 site to my webhost, FP
extensions enabled. URL is mhsb.us, Error: "under construction, site does
not have a default page". Checked in my web account file manager, all files
uploaded ok, shows Index HTML and Index HTM resident which the html should be
the default page right? Why is the default Index not showing online? Should I
delete the Index HTM file? All help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try renaming both files to all lower case letters and then republish.

index.htm and index.html

Hi Steve,
Sorry for my mis-type, both fieles are already in lower case. I just looked
at Remote Web Site Properties in FP to see that index html is 'changed' and
htm is 'unmatched'. Is this the issue? If so what is the fix. Should I
syncronize or move files from remote to local and then re-publish? Thanks for
your help.

Hi Cliff, I was considering renaming index.htm the home page to
default.htm but I would lose some links, only a few but that would be a
quick fix if it works. I'll give it a try. Thanks

Hi Kathleen, I just renamed index.htm to default.htm. How were you able
to get to that with just www.mhsb ? When I type that in browser all I get
is the Sphere page and a direct link to the error page. What do you
recommend?

Hi Kathleen, Thanks so much for your help. Issue is resolved. Qucik overview.
After/before first publish of page I didn't clear browser cache and continued
to get error page which is why I was amazed you could get right to home page
when I could not. However, I found index.html in local files which was the
error message. I renamed index to default which only added to the issue by
creating second home page. I deleted default, deleted index.html, renamed
index.htm (my FP home page that I built) to Index.html and successfully
published to remote web site. It is apparent that some servers require the
home page to be html not htm so renaming that file is the only thing
necessary to publish. Thanks again for your help.

I don't think it's working quite right - when I go to http://www.mhsb.us/ I
get a page that says: Under Construction The site you are trying to view
does not currently have a default page. It may be in the process of being
upgraded and

Hi Kathleen, Yep, I take the site off service and put up a construction page
since I don't have it fully completed yet. With service activated I can get
to it with no issue.
By the way, I built it on a notebook. Online with a CRT monitor many pages
do not look the same, borders and margins not lining up, white spaces, text
size considerably different, colors different. Any tips here? Thanks,
you've been greatly helpful. Rich
