publish to subdomain

It depends on how your host has their server's configured.

When the site has the FP extensions, it is best if the host set it up so
that you publish to a subweb (http://www.domain.com/subwebname) via FP and
then users accessing the site would access via http://subwebname.domain.com

Actually I have been doing that in 2000 and 2002 numerous times. You set up the subweb and publish the main site to the server checking "Include all subwebs", then you file/publish the subweb to http://www.domain.com/subweb. No problem.
