It depends on how your host has their server's configured.
When the site has the FP extensions, it is best if the host set it up so
that you publish to a subweb (
http://www.domain.com/subwebname ) via FP and
then users accessing the site would access via
http://subwebname.domain.com

Actually I have been doing that in 2000 and 2002 numerous times. You set up the subweb and publish the main site to the server checking "Include all subwebs", then you file/publish the subweb to
http://www.domain.com/subweb . No problem.
