Publish problems...

I am publishing a site and every time I try it gets part way through
and fails. The publish log is no help. It gets a little further each
time. The error message that FrontPage throws is "The server
unexpectedly closed the connection".

Any ideas?

Contact your host and have them increase the server "time out" settings.

I am the host :) Supporting a client's problem.

I do not think it has anything to do with timeout as it drops the
connection at random times, not after a fixed amount of time has
elapsed.

I can publish the web after about 4 or 5 retries and only then telling
it to only copy newer data.

Is the server terminating the session or is the client loosing the ISP connection?
Dial up or Broadband?
Is there any info in the server logs?
IIS, Windows 2003 or Apache/UNIX?

Try reducing the timeout on the server. Sometimes if the timeout is too high
this will happen for some reason.

Hope this helps,

Broadband connection, Windows 2003 (WebEd)
Nothing helpful in the IIS logs unfortunately or the event logs.
