Publish problems with Office Live (Essentials)

P

Paul

I've copied my Front Page 2003 web site into the Office Live web folder and
it seems to ignore all the folders that begin with and underscore i.e.
_borders and _themes. Can anyone help.
Thanks
Paul

how do you mean "ignore"?
you should publish via http:// publishing.
generally the _vti folders are there just for metadata.
can you show us a link?

Microsoft Office Live does not let you publish to it, you have to copy your
web pages to their "Web Page folder" and you have to change your main page
from "index.htm" to their "default.aspx or default.htm" and I think that is
why my borders and themes do not work. The link is <www.granda-costa.com>

that's exactly why they don't work.
you can get an account on officelive that will allow you to publish
conventionally. I know because I've done it.

You need to rename the page(s) from within FP, so that all pages are updated. However you would be
best to get that account that Chris mentioned.

A couple of thing I found with the premium OfficeLive account that justified
it's slightly higher than average price was that the server was screamingly
fast and the publish un/pw was the actual LiveID for the site owner.
No classic .asp extensions allowed though. go figure. :)

I did rename the main page to "default.htm" and I can see the main page on
the web, but I can't get to the other pages because it does not show my
borders, where the links to the other pages are. I already have upgraded to
the "Essentials" account but I do not think my client will go for a further
upgrade.

Did you rename it from within FP locally, and then publish to the live/remote server?

Ok, then you need to check with your web host to see if the name is the first in the list of default
document names, and if not, can they make it so.

They now tell me that the problem with my site is because I have some "Java
script" somewhere in my program and Office Live do not support that. Any
Ideas on how to find that script would be much appreciated.

Look for <script> tags in your code.

I don't think that's correct.
I've seen lots of people doing lots of stuff with JavaScript (heavy stuff
like DOM hacks etc.) on OfficeLive.
