publish/ftp?

Plagued with being disconnected by ISP and resorting to selective
publishing, could I benefit by using outside ftp program to transfer files
to website? Website is on server without FP extensions.

Another post seemed to indicate that transferring files using Cute_ftp was
faster than using FrontPage publish/ftp.Is the ftp in FrontPage the same as
outside ftp in function?

However if you use FP, it will know what file have actually change or any new content added that
would need to be published. Using a 3rd Party FTP application maybe faster, but then you must
remember to upload all content that was effected by any changes in the web content.

for example - if you change a shared border - and 150 pages in your site use
shared borders.....means you have to load the 150 pages EACH TIME you change
the border. Where with frontpage http: & server ext, if you publish only
the one page where you modified the border, and changes will be reflected
through the 150 pages.

With outside FTP (CuteFTP) you have to do the same ; if one page has the
border changed, then you need to reload all 150 pages using the shared
border.

same with frontpage include page feature. - you might be better off using
server side includes
