Hi all.. Hope you can help.
I'm trying to import a .pst file that was backed up before the the computer
was formatted and windows XP SP2 re-installed.
When trying to import or open the PST file all I get is the error message
" the file.......backup.pst is not compatable with this version of the
Personal Folders information service. Contact your Administrator"

well I'm the Admin in question and I have not idea..
It's a normal .pst file 18.4mb in size
I've run the scanpst over it and see that there's 4 folders but when I
import it all I get is the deleted Items folder appear with nothing in it
(that's after the scanpst) before the scan all I get is the wrror message
above.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

thanks heaps in advance.

Make sure the pst-file isn't marked Read Only
What version of Outlook are you using?
With what version of Outlook was the pst-file created?
Don't import; use File-> Open-> Outlook Data File instead

You are trying to open an Outlook 2003-style PST in an earlier version of
Outlook. That won't work.
