.pst files that won't import

I just had to have my motherboard and hard drive replaced, so I was advised
to back up everything on my PC which took me a whole week. I backed up my
email archive in Outlook Express, exporting a .pst file without encryption.
Now that I'm ready to import it and refer to my previous emails, Outlook
Express will not import the file; a message appears saying I do not have
authorisation to import the file, even though I'm the person who created it
and no-one else uses my home PC. Is it possible to convert the file into
another file that I can import? Cheers, Tom

Firstly Outlook Express does not use pst files, and secondly it wouldn't
have exported to a pst file unless you had Outlook installed.

See above: OE will not import data from a pst file unless you have
Outlook installed.

Please clarify EXACTLY what you did and what you had/have installed?

Hello Gordon,
Thanks for trying to help. Actually, I now see this is a common problem
which others have asked about and, as a result of some of your earlier posts,
I have found all the answers I need on a site called
"http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/"
I do have Outlook installed, I have copied the .pst files back to my
hard-drive and, rather than trying to import them, have tried the "open
outlook data file" option and it works a treat. Thanks again and sorry for
any inconvenience with my silly questions.

Not necessarily a "silly" question! :-)

Glad it's sorted.....
