I get an error that the personal folder is not available
when trying to expand a personal folder in Outlook 2002.
If I delete and re-add it everything is OK until the next
time. This is a laptop. Other laptops do not have this
problem.

More info would help. Are you accessing the PST from a mapped drive? Is the
drive available when you try to open Outlook?

How big is the file? Note that storing PST files on a mapped drive is not
recommended (and as far as I know is not supported), although I've seen it
work.
