PST File Size Recommendation (Outlook 2000)

I've heard that MS recommends PSt files stay under a certain size (500 megs or so) to avoid the chances of corruption and such. We are sending out a notice to our users with informatino on how to better manage their information and wanted to include the Microsoft Recommended size limit

I searched in the MS Knowledg ebase but didn't really find anything that stated a size to stay under. Does anyone know what size is recommended and if there's anywhere at MS that actually comes out and says to stay under a certain size

Thanks.

I'm not aware of such a recommendation and certainly not one that low.
An Outlook 97/2002 pst format can hold up to 2 GB of data - you should
not let it get over about 1.7 GB or so before moving old messages out as
a large message could kick it over 2GB fast and that will result in corruption.
Outlook 2003's Unicode format does not have a size restriction, only the
older ANSI format.
