I am runnng windows xp home ed. on my PC that has both Outlook 2000 and
Outlook Express on it. I was given a cd (file is rather large) with email
history that when inserted, tells me that it is in a .pst file and I can't
open it. I would be greatfull is someone could give me step by step
directions on how to open the file. I am not interested in uploading it to
my PC, rather I only want to view it. Thanks in advance.

outlook needs read/write access to the pst, so unless it's on a rewritable
cd, you need to copy it to your drive to use it.

You'll need to copy it to your PC and then remove the Read Only file
attribute. Then connect to it by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

it does not like the readonly flag

Copy it to your hd, turn off readonly, it will load
