Pst file name, how to change?

L

Lasse Lind

BACKGROUND
Om my desktop PC (Win XPh SP2, Outlook 2000) the pst file is called
outlook1.pst

Om my laptop PC (Win XPh SP2, Outlook 2000) the pst file is called
outlook.pst

When I use my laptop PC, I first copy the outlook1.pst from desktop PC via
network to the laptop PC. Then I delete outlook.pst and rename outlook1.pst
to outlook.pst.

When I come home, after having used Outlook on the laptop PC, I do the
reverse thing to have outlook1.pst updated on the desktop PC.

It would be easier, and I could use a backup/syncronizing program (third
party) to achive this by just one click, if the two pst-files could have the
same name.

QUESTION
How can I tell Outlook 2000 that from now on it shall accept outlook.pst and
not outlook1.pst?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rename the file and then open Outlook. Since it cannot find the file anymore
it will prompt you for the location. You can then point it to the renamed
file.

Be careful here. Overwriting or otherwise replacing a PST with another of
the same name can lead to profile corruption.

Thanks
So easy. But without you telling me I could not know. Outlook Help was of no
use.
