Hi,

I have a users PST file which in Windows Explorer is about
730mb, but when I open it in Outlook, it is empty and
properties/folder size show it as 0kb.

I know this file is not empty as they were working on it.
I have run scanpst.exe and detect and repair but no result.

Any help/advise will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I will try the tool you suggested.
What exactly does 'white space' mean?

Thanks

A 730MB pst-file can also be "white space" but if you're sure there's data
in it...

If scanpst.exe can't fix it it is corupted badly. You can use the following
third party tool for recovery;
http://www.officerecovery.com/outlook/index.htm

White space is the space taken up by deleted messages which haven't returned
their space to the file system yet. A bit like an air bubble; a whole lot of
nothing :-)

You can force the white space to be deleted by right clicking the root of
the folder-> properties-> button Advanced-> button Compact Now
Don't do this now or the suggested tool will have zero result on ever
getting your messages back.
