i have several outlook 2003 pst files which are not
backward compatible with outlook 2002. I no longer have
2003. Is there any way of converting these 2003 files
from unicode other than to pass them through outlook
2003? My 2003 trial version has expired and was
uninstalled from my computer. Any help would be very
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How does one do that. When I export from 2003, Outlook 2002 doesn't
recognize the file and I am prohibited from importing it into 2002

No. You must use Outlook 2003 to export to a .pst file with the earlier
format.

You cannot use the export function by itself. That will only create a PST
file in the new format.
You must first create a PST file in the old format (Outlook 97-2002). Once
you do, you can export to that folder. A better method is just to copy the
data to that folder.

How does one do eitherofthis? How does one create a PT file in theold
format?

File > New Outlook Data file...
The dialog box there is perfectly clear.
