pst file disappeared!

I am running Outlook 2002. My inbox, deleted items, everything disappeared.
Searched and found several .pst files. Tried to open those files and got
error message: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The command line argument
is not valid. Verify the switch you are using."

Any ideas? Thanks.
 
Which way of opening did you use?
The proper way to reconnect to a pst-file is by opening Outlook first and
then use;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
