I have done that many many times, even tried fully
installing software before connecting hardware. I am up
to 16 pages of infor from HP support with no progress.
The last post said it was an OS issue to contact help in
that direction, what do you think?

Unless you are married to the printer take it back and get a refund or
exchange for another brand.

Nonone needs to put up with this much aggravation.

I took 4 hours to get a PSC2210 installed and running: major conflicts with
the HP .exe files that wanted to 'start-up' and Norton. I uninstalled Norton
System Works and got HP software to install, and then did not reinstall
Norton SW again.

Had to get another Anti-Virus application and now use Windows SP2 firewall.

Too much stuffing around for most folks.

Other products work more comfortably with Windows and other applications.

So HP will soon get the message when people start to send back their
products becasue of software issues.
