fatal error installing new hp psc 2410 printer

I am using xp pro, while installing the hp software for a
new hp psc 2410 printer, at approx 13% loaded I get a
fatal error (g:\setup\hpzgat01.exe -gate cue -run
hpznfx01.exe -l enu -f c:\window......) I was told by hp
support that it is operating system error and to contact
microsoft. can anyone please help me.

I can't offer any help, yet. I've got the same problem with a HP 5510
all-in-one (it dies at approximately 11% for me.) I run XP home. I
requested an updated version of the printer software and tried that
about 30 minutes ago with no luck. HP has told me to uninstall all my
HP software and then to try and move the set up from the CD to the
hard drive. No luck with that either. I'm going to call them again
today and see what happens.

On a side note, I did try the install with a windows 2000 PC and it
worked. I'm going to try another XP box later on this afternoon and
see what becomes of it. My guess is it's XP or HP's XP setup anyway.
