PS2 or USB mouse?

I just had to replace my 4 year old Wireless Intellipoint Explorer due to the
left click not working properly. My new Wireless Intellipoint Explorer
Platinium states in the instruction booklet that I should use PS2 if
possible. My old mouse didn't even come with a USB - PS2 adaptor.
It seems like after I switched over to PS2 that my wheel button doesn't work
very well when switching windows.

What is the best hook up?

I have the black leather versions working perfectly on two different PCs...
and not a PS/2 port in sight for either!
