Earlier on prior to virus scanning, I was able to use my ps2 mouse and ps2
kb. However after the scan I discovered that my ps2 mouse does not work
anymore. If I use the usb mouse it works ok,with HID compliant under the
mouse tree in Device Manager. I boot up in safe mode and uninstall the
driver/or items under the mouse (in the device manager) and shut the pc down.
Changethe moue to ps2 type and reboot to normal mode.

Upon reboot to normal mode, the ps2 mouse still does not work. What can
contribute to this strange behaviour, thanks.
ps; the mouse works fine with other computer

Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are damaged
or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot afterwards so
damaged files will be replaced.

Also try a System Restore to a date before the a/v scan deleted needed
files/drivers.

* However after the scan I discovered that my ps2 mouse does not work *

sfc /scannow, first.
repair install, if scannow doesn't fix.
The XP disk with the latest SP will be needed.
