PS/2 and USB

I tried to connect a keyboard that has a PS/2 connector to an XP computer
which has only USB ports by using a PS/2 to USB adapter. I tried 3 different
computers, 2 different adaptors, and 2 different individuals of the same
model keyboard, but no combination worked. Is there something inherently
impossible here?

On an older computer, I replaced the PS/2 mouse with a USB mouse using a
USB-to-PS/2 adaptor and had no problem.

No, but there are two different types of ps2-usb adapters. The ones for
mice have different pinouts. The ones for keyboards are comparatively
rare. Also, USB keyboards are inexpensive.

USB Mice to PS2 adapters and K/boards are not the same as you have seen, I
don't believe what you are attempting is possible.

Not all keyboards like adapters, and will not work properly. Anything
from some keys not working to nothing at all. If it works fine, if not
well then it won't.

Sorry Andrew E. once again you are wrong. Not all keyboards like
adapters, and will not work properly. Anything from some keys not
working to nothing at all. If it works fine, if not well then it won't.
