Proxy settings

I do not use a proxy server but everytime I log on to Internet Explorer the
program spends 30 seconds 'Detecting Proxy Server'. How can I eliminate that
process?

Go to tools, internet options, connections and click the Lan settings
button. Then uncheck "automatically detect settings". That should do it.

Dave,
When I go to Internet Options in the Tools menu of IE6.0, I am not able to
go to the "Connections". I have the same problem as the other fellow,
however, the Detecting Proxy Settings runs continuously!
