connect setting changes by itself

In TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNNECTIONS, the setting changes from
AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS to PROXY SERVER. I have dial up and of course
the Proxy setting won't work. Why does it change and how can I make it stop?

Hi,
Look under your connections Tab and see what your Default connection is set
to.
You may have two connections one of them using a Proxy.
HTH.
Please report back your Findings.

Under connections tab I have my dial up conection set as defalt and the
choice selected is "always dial my default connection". Thank you for the
idea though.

So where the Proxy came from, you should be careful as some malware and
vecious Codes/Hackers can hijack your Network connection, in some cases you
will find the Bill expensive (that the spooky part!).
Try and remember what change to make this Issue occur.
Also try to click on [ Advanced ] Button on the Proxy section and see the
Entires there and clear it then click Ok and Reboot.
HTH.

You're right, there is an entry under advanced button. It says Localhost with
port 8080. I will clear and reboot. Thanks for the help, I don't know if it
will solve the problem or not but will let you know.
