Proton ScanPro C6 no longer works?

Any one having problems/solutions to making scanners work
with XP. Worked great with 98. Proton ScanPro C6
drivers not reconized. I changed cmos settings as per
instructions but no scanner activity.

I don't believe it's compatible with XP... or 2000. Drivers for Win9x
operating systems (95, 98, 98se and ME) will NOT work with XP. If you can
find some drivers for Windows XP or Windows 2000, they will work... but this
is a really old and discontinued device as far as I can tell.... real
solution is to get a nice new USB scanner.

If you do manage to find some drivers, remember you cannot piggy-back LPT
devices in XP like you could in 9x. They simply do NOT work. If this is a
LPT device (parallel port) and you also have a parallel port printer, one
will have to go or change to a USB device.

How about a nice HP ScanJet2300 (refurbished) for $39.99... or a new Canon
LiDE20 for $49.99.
