I want to protect my machine from receive some kinds of protocols like ICMP.
Because anyone can make me off-line just using the ping command
e.g: ping -f 192.168.10.x

Is there any configuration I can make on my W2K Pro to prevent this ?? O kind of a filter .

In what environment? From within a private network? Over the internet?

Internet routers can't route anything from the 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x
scopes. Those are reserved for private networks and therefore are
unreacheable outside your network.

The same can't be said about the ISP's ppp or pppoe session, but most if not
virtually all ISPs block ICMP pakets.

If you are suffering from internal attacks, consider disabling the computer
browser service. Your system won't show up in the browser list.

Thats assuming you get ip_addresses via DHCP.
