Disabling Ping Reply

I did a "port test" on Steve Gibson's www.grc.com. The results were as
follows;

Solicited TCP Packets: RECEIVED (FAILED) — As detailed in the port
report below, one or more of your system's ports actively responded to
our deliberate attempts to establish a connection.

Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) — Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP
Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet. Most personal
firewalls can be configured to block, drop, and ignore such ping
requests in order to better hide systems from hackers.

So far, with many years on the net, I've never had a virus. I would
like to keep it that way.

I'm using the NVIDIA hardware firewall plus the Windows firewall.

How can I correct the problems above especially the "Ping Reply"

TIA for all responses

Try another 'port test' and read more extensive descriptions of the possible
consequences of replying and not replying to a 'ping' (ICMP Echo) request.
You will worry less. Also, the information as you posted only mentions ONE
failure; the 'ping' test.

Try http://dslreports.com/scan
(other tools are offered on the home page of DSL Reports at
http://dslreports.com )

and http://security.symantec.com
(click on the 'Go' button, then click on the 'Security Scan' button. After
the test, click on the 'Hacker Exposure' button.)

In attacking a single computer, the ICMP Echo request is a limited tool.

If you decide that blocking 'ping' is warranted on your system, then you
might find
http://www.petri.co.il/block_ping_traffic_with_ipsec.htm
useful.

Thanks for the input. I understand what you mean. There certainly is a lot
of hype surrounding "threats" to computers (at least IMHO). For example, the
meta file hype. Thanks, again.
