Property - file properties

I am unable to access file properties from both the right click mouse or with
the Win Classic pull down menu, I click properties and nothing happens.
Seemed to happen around when Norton upgraded but I tried disabling Norton but
that didn't help. Any suggestions

I do not believe this has anything to do with the mouse as I can not even
access the properties dialog box using the keyboard, any other suggestions?
Thanks

Yes, try the fixes anyway. The problem is with the Context Menu
handlers; how you access it, and how the articles are quoted shouldn't
matter.

Tried the first fix, isolated the shell files - context menu - property sheet
- icon handlers, did not fix the problem, any other suggestions? Thanks

Click Start, Run, type:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll (Press Enter key)

regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll (Press Enter key)

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll (Press Enter key)

As a test, disable any spyware and virus protection and see if that
helps. You might run the scans too.

And: Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are
damaged or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot
afterwards so damaged files will be replaced.
