No Properties

When I right click on my xp pro desktop nothing happens. I am also unable to
access properties when I right click on a folder or file in windows explorer
or on any desktop icons. When I right click on a file or folder in explorer,
I can OPEN, EXPLORE, DELETE, RENAME ETC, but properties wont open. My virus
scan, spyware, mailware etc is all up to date.Can you please help.
