Properties window in Explorer not appearing

G

Guest

Using Explorer, I want to share a folder. After right clicking on the folder
I left click "Sharing and security..." and wait for the tabbed window to
appear (as it used to before), but it never appears. This problem suddenly
started and it is most annoying since I regularly share folders on my
network. Note that it is not only "Sharing and security..." that is the
problem, but also when I want to see "Properties" of a folder. Why do I have
this problem and how do I solve it? I don't know if it matters, but I'm using
file advanced sharing.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSecurityTab"=dword:00000001

If this entry exists, set it to zero

Thanks,

But unfortunately it didn't exist, and I guess that it wouldn't have helped
anyway since it is the whole Properties dialog that does not appear.

Joachim

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:

I am having the same problem, Can't get Sharing and Security or Properties to
work from right clicking on a folder. Sharing and Security will work in Safe
Mode.
All of the other options on the context menu do work. I checked the
registry for
the entry and I don't have it. I am running XP Pro SP2.

I reformated my HD and reinstalled all of my software, 2 weeks work to correct
this problem the last time, and I don't see any reason to try again if the
same
problem keeps coming back.

Thanks to anyone that know how to fix this problem.

John,

If XP Pro, do you have IIS installed? Follow the "PropertySheetHandler" part in that article.

Sorry, Don't understand, What article?

Yes, I have IIS installed?, and now it makes sense, as I did an Uninstall and
reinstall of IIS. So I believe this is most likely the cause.

Thanks, It worked.

I used the registry HCR\Directory\Shellex\PropertSheetHandlers and deleted
all sub entries except the sharing. Now works fine. Thanks for the help.
