Properties menu question

I have a teacher that has has a strange re-arrangement of her right click
menu properties items. The computer has had quite a few power outage
shutdowns and motherboard problems resulting in the same but somehow when she
right clicks on a drive letter in My Computer or any type of file the
"Search" option is at the top of the menu rather than "Open" which means when
you double click on the drive, file or what have you it Searches the drive
rather than opens it. How do you change this? I don't have a clue as to
where to go to re-order the menu.

Thanks.

You might want to download and run the registry fix from this web site.

If that doesn't work, take a look at these articles.

Hi Danak:

If You are using windows XP Professional then go to Start>Run & Type Regidt

I Legt Pane Go to > HKey_local_machine>Software> Classes >drive>shell and
next delete all Extra registry

or Click Start | Click Run | Paste this in the Open box:
regsvr32 /i shell32 Then click OK.

Note :Before you edit the registry, export the keys in the registry that you
plan to edit, or back up the whole registry
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that

Hi Vishal, thanks for your reply. I will pass this on to the teacher and
see what she says. She's fairly accomplished with a PC and, yes, we are
running XP Pro on all PCs at this time.
