using Word 2003 - when I save a file created with a certain template I am
prompted to save changes to the underlying template file used to create the
new file. I want the template files to remain unchanged.

Something in that template is causing a change in the template when the new
document is created. That could be a macro (particularly an AutoNew or
Document_New macro) or an add-in.

Is this template one that you created yourself, or one you got from someone
else? Do you know what's in it?

These are templates I created to put boilerplate text in letters and other
documents. Only the normal.dot contains macros. I'm thinking that there's a
setting somewhere that controls this behavior. Thanks.
