Prompt to save or open from internet

I frequently need to access word documents from the internet. Is there a way
to open the document in word instead of in the browser? Right now my
documents always open in the browser; I am unable to access all of my word
tools easily, and saving is a problem because it does not ask where I want to
save the file to (and I am unable to find it after saving). Can someone
please help me out?
Thanks.

Thank you for responding so quickly. However, this only works some of the
time. Other times I get this message when trying to save the file in the way
you described, "Internet explorer cannot download from
....091665','PAGE_TYPE',false. No such interface supported"
My hard drive recently crashed, before I was always prompted to either save
or open a file (if I saved I could open in word, if I opened it would open in
the brower), now I don't get this option and can't figure out how to get it
back to the way it was before.

Right click on the link, select Save Target As, then you need to pay
attention to where you tell your computer to put the file.

Are they .doc files? Have you tried accessing them from another computer?
And when you do access them in your browser, do a Save As and once again,
pay attention where you're saving it.

Yes they are .doc files. Though I have similar problems with powerpoints and
excel documents. I can access the files, they just open in the browser. If I
try to save using the save icon on the toolbar that is in the browser, it
just saves, I have no choice of where it saves to, and nothing comes up
indicating where it saved to. I'm sure it probably does save to somewhere on
my computer, it just doesn't tell me about it. If I try to do a save as from
the browser it doesn't save the document, it saves an .html or .txt file (the
website that the word document is open in). Like I said, this is not always
the case, sometimes I can right click and save target as. I really just want
to know how I can get it to prompt me to save or open a file, rather than
just opening it.
Thank you.

Can you post a link to one of the files that doesn't work for you? It might
not be your problem.
