If you are not UPGRADING from a previous OS (and want to keep all of that
stuff) - then simply boot from the CD - go into your System BIOS, set it to
boot from CD, put in your Windows XP CD, Reboot the machine, when it asks
you to press ANY key to boot from CD, do it - ANY key - I recommend the
space bar - it's usually larger than the rest and thus, harder to miss.
If you are upgrading from a previous OS and WANT to keep the
installation/profiles/settings somewhat intact, boot to your current OS, put
in your Windows XP CD and if it does not AutoPlay, explore the CD and run
Setup.
