projector & dual monitors ... problems

I have a presentation that I need to play on a laptop that is setup for dual
monitors and will be connected to a project. This has worked for me for a
few years ... no problem.

Now ... for some reason, it's not behaving properly. I'm not sure if the
problem is with the show setup (without Powerpoint) or if it's with the
projector. When I tried this (last night) I had no control over the
powerpoint presentation ... it displayed on the screen, but I couldn't
advance the slides ... no matter what. It was really frustrating. The show
date for this presentation (at a church) is Sunday night and I really need
this to work. I'll only get another chance to try and get it configured on
Sunday afternoon ... then the next night is show-time (Nove. 21 -05).

Any ideas on what is "setup wrong". Something has changed and I don't know
how to fix it.

Please and thanks for any suggestions.
Note ... I don't have full access to this laptop ... belongs to someone
else. If there's a test that can be done ... when it's not connected to the
projector ... that might let me know if it's working ok, I can ask the owner
(of the laptop) to try a few things. Tahnks..

That's a new one on me. You say you are running the show without
powerpoint - you mean as a pps (powerpoint show) file? Does the file work
when you are using the laptop without the projector? I just tried to find a
setup arrangement wherein I could NOT advance the slide with a tap of the
spacebar and could not do it.

Try running the show with the projector, and try advancing to the second
slide by hitting the "2" key, then ENTER. It should make the show go to the
second slide. If nothing else it'll show that your not locked up.

Good luck. When you find you what happened, no matter how mundane the
answer, please post it.

Sorry steve,
I must have typed something wrong. I am running the ppt file ... it just
won't advance. I think it's related to the dual monitor thing. Someone
said that when you move the mouse to the far right ... you can see the mouse
cursor ... which is really strange ... that's the other monitor .. and it
shouldn't be working that way.

It sounds like you are stretching the display across both monitors instead
of having them act independently.

The presentation shows in its entirety on the projected screen as well as on
the laptop. Does that help?
