Hooking my laptop up to a projector (either mine or another's), causes
it to become unreliable in multiple programs. I'm running Windows XP
Professional. This only occurs after I hook it up to a projector, is
intermittent, and occurs with and without AC Power connected.
When using Powerpoint, if I put it into presentation mode, I'm unable
able to advance past the first slide. The "bong" noise will be
accompanied by the second slide flashing on the screen, but then going
back to the first.
Then, if I take it out of presentation mode, to use the regular
desktop view, it'll "zoom" in to the largest font size without me
doing anything. In addition, I will be unable to close out of the the
preview panel on the left (with the small images of the slides). I
click the "x" and the preview panel re-appears.
Similar problems occur when I use adobe acrobat.
I called Dell, who just said that I should run "disk defrag". While I
did that, since the problem is intermittent, I'm not convinced it has
been resolved.
Anything from general guidance to words of encouragement are
appreciated. Thanks.
