Dear all,

I work on a mac and Visio doesnt work and am not willing to pay for a
mac version (if there one). It must be possible with all your brains
out there to use excel to do the job.

I have attached a spreadsheet which shows roughky what I want to do but
I certainly dont have the knowledge to be able to do it - can any of
you help?

Overview is that I need to list tasks, start dates, end dates
(automated) based on number of days/hrs it takes to do it but taking in
to consideration weekends (excluding them) and based on a 8 hour day
(with an hour for lunch).

Can anyone help?

Tahnks

I didn't look at your workbook, for various reasons including potential
virii, but from your description this can be fairly easy to do (I've
done several for clients - but they were all different). Perhaps a text
description of your layout and where you're having problems would help.

First, take a look at the NETWORKDAYS() function (which can also
accommodate holidays) in XL Help. It deals with whole days only, so
modification will have to be done for hours.

You'll have to specify how you want to link items - it's easy to do
directly by linking start date/times to end date/times, but it's not as
obvious how the links are being made.

In addition, you can search the archives:

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*excel*

for suggestions on tracking projects.

if there are Mac-specific aspects to the project, be sure to post in the
microsoft.public.mac.office.excel group.
