programs slow to load

I have a DSL line, and I am convinced that, some how,
over a period of several months, this is slowing my
computer's performance. I had my brother reinstall XP
back in August, and everything ran fine again until now.
Sometimes a minute or two to open even Word. Any
suggestions? Or should I just reinstall Xp again?

Start with the basics.
Run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag, both under System Tools.

I am having the same problem and have searched and
searched for the answer. I've tried all the basics and
everything else I can think of. I also have DSL. My
computer is slow to open any and every kind of program:
Word, Internet Explorer, everything. I'll be checking
back here for any information anyone has.
