Programs running

My windows XP always show 3 programs running at the log in screening
but after I run the task manager there is no application is running. I
wander what is the reason. Can anybody give me a hint?

I do not know the programs, because when i open up the taskmanager,
there in nothing listed in the "application", when I open up the
process, there are a lots of process running, and i have no idea which
one is normal, which one is not supposed to be running.
