Programs not running with upgraded vista

I just purchase a new lap top that came with Vista Home edition. I installed
an upgrade to Vista Business. All previously installed programs (microsoft
office, excell, outlook, etc.) are gone. They will not load with the new
version.
I see the folder on C drive under OLD WINDOWS, but how do I make these
applications to work? I tried copying and pasting but didnt work.
Any suggestions? Do I need to recover the old version?
Thanks

Nothing that's in Old Windows is able to be run anymore. The programs are no
longer in an installed state, they're just a collection of files on the
harddrive. It's like a storage container for everything that was removed
with your old OS to make room for the new OS. AFAIK there is no upgrade
path from Vista HP to Vista Business, only to Vista Ultimate so it looks
like what you did was a clean install of Vista Business. If Vista Business
edition allows you to roll back to your previous OS then you could try that,
otherwise you'll have to use whatever system recovery method was provided
with your computer by the OEM manufacturer.

You didn't do an upgrade, you did a parallel installation. You
therefore can't run any programs installed in Vista Home, only those
installed in Vista Business.
