programs missing after domain login

A user installed a application locally while she was in
workgroup mode. After switching over to domain mode and
logging in as a domain user not only has the desktop
changed (to be expected if roaming profiles is not
enabled) but certain applications are missing. They do
exist in c:\programs\appname... but do not appear using
start->programs. The Workstation is W2K pro with SP3,
and Server is WIN 2K Server running AD. If she logs in
to her local box she can use the app, but not if she logs
in to the domain. I have tried copying the desktops. The
icons look good, but double-clicking the shortcuts has no
effect, it just acts as if nothing had happened.

If the programs in question require Administrator privileges
to run, which she probably has with her local user ID, make
sure that her domain login ID is in the Administrators group
on her PC. Note that I am not talking about the domain
administrators group.
